Here’s some need-to-know information for the week:
City of Boulder to adopt new recreation registration system, SmartRec by Amilia
This November, the city is excited to roll out a new Recreation Management Software (RMS), SmartRec by Amilia. SmartRec is set to replace the current RMS, ActiveNet, to provide a digitally accessible, all-in-one user experience for community members to manage memberships, class sign-ups and court, pool lane and event space reservations at all city recreation facilities and Older Adult Service centers (West and East Age Well Centers).
ActiveNet will continue to be used until SmartRec’s official go live date on Friday, Nov. 14. Email invitations with SmartRec account set-up instructions will be sent to active RMS users the week of Monday, Nov. 3. Account set-up will consist of reviewing updated terms and conditions and adding a payment method. Existing Fall 2025 membership data will be imported to the platform automatically.
To support this change, communications to the community will start next week, supplemented with email reminders, social media, recreation guide advertising, staff-led community drop-in training sessions and more to ensure a smooth system rollout.
As the new software is implemented, the city will launch an updated membership structure for recreation facilities. The structure and associated fees have been developed in line with Boulder Parks and Recreation (BPR) fee policy. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) has been consulted monthly since April on the 2026 budget, including associated revenue projections and fees required to maintain service levels.
