Here’s some need-to-know information for the week

City to launch new utility customer billing portal and move to paperless billing

On Nov. 25, the city will launch an upgraded online utility billing system for Boulder water customers. The new system has improved functionality and security and will make it easier for Boulder water customers to pay and manage utility bills online.

The transition to the new system will require all users to create a new Customer Billing Portal account on or after Nov. 25 using their existing customer and account numbers. During the transition, customers may experience temporary impacts in the existing system, including:

  • “View Only” access to the existing billing portal from Nov. 21 to Dec. 9.
  • No automated phone payment access from Nov. 21 to 24.
  • No changes to payment type or auto-pay settings from Nov. 14 to 24.

Customers will still be able to pay their bills by mail, drop-box, online at boulderwater.net or by contacting the Utility Billing Office at 303-441-3260. Customers signed up for auto-pay in our current system will automatically be enrolled in auto-pay in the new system.

This upgrade precedes a move to paperless billing in February 2025, with the January bill being the final paper bill customers will receive. Switching to paperless will reduce waste, is more cost effective and provides a more secure billing process. You can learn more about the system upgrade and a switch to paperless billing on our Frequently Asked Questions webpage.

Community Connectors–in–Residence Share Mid-year Update

Community Connectors-in-Residence (CC-in-R) have shared a mid-year update with City Council to provide you with more information about the work they have been doing – and the impact it is having on elevating historically excluded voices and perspectives.

This update includes themes from recent CC-in-R ‘Building Power & Raising Voices’ sessions with community; a summary of the topics that connectors have put through the Racial Equity Instrument Step Review & Feedback process; and a summary of key events and activities since February 2024.

This update may be found here – https://bouldercolorado.gov/media/16428/download?inline. As an alternative, it is also included as an attachment to the Engagement Strategic Framework agenda memo for the Nov. 14, 2024 council meeting.

This additional heads up is in response to council’s recent request that staff draw attention to particularly helpful companion documents that could be reviewed in advance of meetings. The city’s Community Connector Manual, released earlier this year, is another document that falls into that category.

For more information about Community Connectors-in-Residence, please visit their program webpage or contact Ryan Hanschen, Community Engagement Manager, at hanschenr@bouldercolorado.gov or Ana Silvia Avendaño-Curiel, Equity Policy Advisor, at avendano-curiela@bouldercolorado.gov.

Nuria
