The Heart of Boulder's Community Transit Network

The HOP bus service debuted in 1994 and is provided by the City of Boulder through a funding partnership with the Regional Transportation District (RTD) and CU Boulder.

Temporary Detour

There is a temporary detour for both clockwise and counterclockwise routes due to construction in the area and afternoon closures on Regent Drive. Use the Transit app for details and updates.

Regular Schedule & Frequency

Service levels may be reduced during off-peak seasons, including winter and summer break.

Weekdays

  • 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (12-minute frequency)
  • 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. (20-minute frequency)

Saturday

  • 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (15-minute frequency)
  • 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. (22-minute frequency)

Sundays and Holidays

  • 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (23-minute frequency)

2026 holiday service days include: Thursday, Jan. 1; Monday, May 25; Saturday, July 4; Monday, Sept. 7; Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Dec. 25.

Animals

  • Animal policy: Only Service Animals are allowed

Bike and Ride with HOP

Embark

  • When the bus comes to a complete stop walk in front of the bus
  • Lower the bike rack, load your bike and secure it with the tire bar

Disembark

  • When disembarking, remind the driver that you are retrieving your bike
  • Walk in front of the bus, release the tire bar, and unload your bike

Ridership Data

Below is the HOP Ridership update through 2024. View the data in the dropdowns below or check out these fast facts from 2024:

  • In 2024, HOP ridership totaled 545,487 and averaged 1,490 passengers a day.
  • The HOP continues to operate a reduced service schedule. For the HOP, this includes an approximate 25% reduction in service hours—as weekday frequencies have been changed from 10/12-minutes to 15-minutes since April 19, 2020.
  • 2024 ridership numbers are 30% below HOP pre-COVID-19 ridership numbers.
  • HOP ridership increases when CU Boulder is in session and decreases when the university is on break.
