As of August 8, 2020, Hemp cultivation or for Hemp extraction/production locations (not sales locations) will be required to hold a city regulatory license for a Hemp Business. This is in addition to the city business license you obtained for sales and use tax purposes.
For businesses that have applied or which already hold a city business license as of June 16, 2020, there is a two-part application linked here. The process will be as follows:
- By January 1, 2021, submit Part 1 of the application form online to register for a city Hemp Business and pay the Hemp Registration fee online, see application here:
- By July 1, 2021, complete and submit Part 2 of the application form with the Hemp Business License additional attachments included, pay the Hemp License fee, schedule city inspections with the Cannabis City Team (Fire, Police, and Planning) to receive approvals for those inspections, and have the City Hemp Business license issued.
Both Part 1 and Part 2 of this Hemp Business License must be applied for online and paid for online using the instructions included in the application packet.
All Hemp cultivation or extraction/production businesses that did not have or apply for a city business license by June 16, 2020 will be required to complete both Parts 1 and 2 and obtain both a city business license and a hemp business license before they may operate a Hemp Business within the city limits of the City of Boulder.
