The Heart of Boulder's Community Transit Network

The HOP debuted in 1994 and is provided by the City of Boulder through a funding partnership with RTD and CU.

Regular Schedule

  • Weekdays
    • 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (12-minute frequency)
    • 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. (20-minute frequency)
  • Saturdays
    • 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (15-minute frequency)
    • 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. (22-minute frequency)
  • Sundays
    • 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (23-minute frequency)

Fares

Regular fare

  • One-way fare for the HOP is $3.00.
  • The fare also serves as a 3-hour pass, allowing unlimited rides and transfers (including to RTD routes) within 3-hours of issuance.

Service Updates

The Transit app allows you to follow the HOP on its route and get real-time information on arrivals and service updates.

Animals

  • Animal policy: Only Service Animals are allowed

Bike and Ride with HOP

Embark

  • When the bus comes to a complete stop walk in front of the bus
  • Lower the bike rack, load your bike and secure it with the tire bar

Disembark

  • When disembarking, remind the driver that you are retrieving your bike
  • Walk in front of the bus, release the tire bar, and unload your bike

Ridership Data

Below is the 2022 monthly update of HOP ridership trends. Summary points include the following:

  • In 2022, HOP ridership totaled 442,317 and averaged 1,620 passengers/day.
  • 2022 ridership was approximately 43% less than 2019 ridership (pre-COVID-19 baseline). However, 2022 ridership was approximately 78% greater than 2021 ridership.
  • HOP has been operating with a reduced service schedule typical of standard weekend service coordinated with RTD's COVID-19 Service Plan.

This service is funded in partnership with RTD. RTD operates its programs and services without regard to race, color, and national origin in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Any person who believes they have been subjected to unlawful discrimination under Title VI may file a complaint with RTD.
