North Boulder Recreation Center

North Boulder Recreation Center

North Boulder Recreation Center is open for a limited recreation experience.

We’ve been working hard to interpret state and local guidance to ensure that recreational facility operations align fully with efforts to protect public health. For pools, we also made enhancements to water safety procedures and water quality specifications to meet the standards for pools set by the Centers for Disease Control and the American Red Cross.

Right now, operations look different than normal, but in the coming weeks, staff will be adjusting offerings as guidance allows to maximize recreational opportunities. Elements like group fitness classes, leisure pool bookings, racquetball, childcare and hours for vulnerable populations are actively being evaluated. Likewise, coaches for user groups are working closely with aquatic staff to identify solutions for organized team activities.

Additional services are anticipated to resume in the coming month at the East Boulder Community Center and later this summer at Scott Carpenter Pool (pending construction).

What We're Doing to Keep You Safe

  • The facility is separated into four activity zones that operate on a staggered reservation to support cleaning and safe transition. Fitness equipment and stations are space 6 feet apart.
  • Staff and patrons are screened per city policy and required to wear face coverings. Custodial day porters provide hourly cleaning of high touch areas (doors, counters, restroom fixtures) and recreation center staff sanitize equipment used after each reservation. Patrons are asked to wipe down reserved equipment after use. The entire facility is “fogged” after closing using an electrostatic sprayer.
